Hello,
What nudists wear on causal Friday’s is, perhaps, something you’ve never pondered but it is a valid question, right? I mean, if Monday through Thursday nudists wear nothing how do you make nothing more casual? Maybe they don’t wear makeup on Friday’s. Wear a braid instead of bouffant? Sandals instead of stiletto’s? Hmmmm!
So, let me give you something else to ponder? What burning fashion question have you always wanted an answer to? Afterall, this blog is all about you-providing ideas and fashion tips to create the most beautiful and confident you no matter what your size, shape or style. So, here’s your chance to ask and it’s super simple. Click Comment at the bottom of this post and ask away. And don’t be afraid!!!!!!! Too often I hear, “I’m too afraid to comment”. It’s like raising your hand in class, everybody afraid to say or ask something silly. Well, there are no silly questions here. You don’t even have to enter your email or your name, (unless you care to) just ask your question and I’ll answer them. Okay, I’m waiting

As you are a stylist, I am hoping you can help a friend of mine.
She wants advice on dressing for her body shape which is average hieght and although not fat by any means she is not as curvy in the waist as she wants to be. She is also in her early 50′s so needs things that are appropriate for her age. Any thoughts?
Thank you for opening up the questions Laura. Dressing for ones age means doing so with garments that fit a person’s personality and silhouette not necessarily what is trendy. Having said that, can a 50 year old rock this season’s bright color? Sure, but I recommend she wear them around her face with a darker or printed bottom. Prints, worn properly, can be great camaflougers of trouble areas like her waist that is not as tiny as she would like. Wear florals, plaids, abstracts and vertical stripes that are appropriate for her size, neither too small nor too large. Vertical lines, whether constructed or applied, will elongate her average height and give the illusion of a thinner body. Stay away from big, baggy dresses. These will just make her look like a tent. Accentuate the smallest part of her torso, her natural waist, with a belt that cinches in and blends in with her total look. An empire waist may look smashing on her. As will a bell skirt or wide leg pant paired with an open blazer or cardigan. I hope this helps!

Thanks Paula!
I will pass this information on to her. I know she will appreciate it!
Cheers,
Laura
Is fashion selfish in a world where many people have not got what they need?
~Your blog is lovelyXx
Thank you for your comment and great question! Fashion history tells us that the most basic reason for dress is protection, modesty, status and decoration. Since the Early Stone Age or Paleolithic Period, we’ve been decorating our bodies with the fashion of the period, geography or culture. So, fashion does not have to cost a lot (some of my favorite garments and accessories were picked up at yard sales, consignment boutiques or thrift, big box and department stores) it just needs to say something about the person and the, zeitgeist, or spirit of the times.

Thank you very much! Xx
