Well, hello there!

It’s been a while………my apologies BUT I do have a good, no GREAT, reason. I have been hard at work developing my Dettamoda website. Can I get a Whoo hoo? I am super excited to share my fashion styling services, accessory sales, weekly styling tips, seasonal colors, trends and, of course, the new home to my blog.

I Don’t Run Unless Something is Chasing Me

I don’t run. Well, I do if something is chasing me………like a lion, a bumble bee, a bill collector or an illness. Sunday I was forced to run. It didn’t matter though ’cause it still caught me. A nasty virus that is. So, this is me.

Sickly but so trying to head out the door stylish.

Honestly, some of the pictures that are snapped for this blog crack me up. I can’t even begin to tell you how many hit the trashcan. But, today I thought we would have a little fun at my expense. Take for instance these shots.

Stylist Tip :: Black heels would have paired nicely with the black belt (not that I always match my accessories ’cause I don’t) but nude heels elongate legs and hold the focus on the dress not the feet.

My car does this crazy, totally uncontrollable, quirky lil’ thing. At the first sign of a thrift store, consignment boutique, estate or garage sale it suddenly veers towards the flashing open sign, screeches into a parking spot and ejects me, purse in hand, out the sunroof. Weird, I know but what am I supposed to do about it? As I see it, the best reaction is to take action. So, I limp on in and shop.

Last week, my cars totally uncontrollable ejection caused me to discover this delicious mod coat……..for $30!

Stylist Tip :: Blending in is easy. Make a style statement with unique garments and accessories.

Well hello there! Remember me? Yes, it has been awhile. A couple of weeks in fact and I apologize. But, I have really great excuses. Really, I do!

I am constantly bee-like, always busily buzzing around. Yet the past few weeks have been like a single-winged, three-legged bee on an ice rink trippin’ on a double espresso. Bee-sy! So, again, I apologize and propose to you my Top 10 Reasons for Neglecting (but never forgetting) my blog.

1. Completing the final touches to my website. Very exciting!

2. Buying, taking photos and loading merchandise for sale onto my website. Get out your checkbook

3. Hosting a Stache Bash for my husband and father-in-law. Any excuse to party.

4. Gutting a bedroom to create a new style studio. It’s like a dressing room on steroids.

5. Got hired on to Winston Retail Solutions as a freelance merchandising coördinator and creative team member. Super excited about this opportunity.

6. Traveling to LA for assistant wardrobe styling on editorial shoots. I love my job!

7. Key styling for the TV pilot, Bill Poett’s True North. Honored to be a part of this team.

8. Resigning from my full-time position as a YMCA Associate Executive Director. After 18 years, this is so bittersweet.

9. Working on test shoots to add to my portfolio. Creative and fun.

10. Picking out furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, paint, flooring and lighting for my new dressing studio. I love inviting the interior designer in me out to play.

So there you have it folks. My Top 10. I may have neglected to give you stylish tips and tricks over the past few weeks but my stilettos have been strapped on and you’ve been on my mind.

Glam Gold High Heel Ice Skates

So, here is my well thought out, quite reasonable analysis for needing glam gold high heel ice skates? Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs! Let me explain…..

Safety Needs: Medical insurance, Job security, Financial reserves, Living in a safe area……….Insurance? Check! Job Security? Yep! Financial Reserves? Got that covered! Safe area to live? Well I do fear the coyotes and snakes but I’ll still say, Check! Move ahead one level.

Social Needs: Friendship, Belonging to a group, Giving and Receiving Love…….I’m completely covered here. So many friendships with ample love flowing to and fro. Besides what friends or family of mine wouldn’t want to skate with me while I’m wearing super sweet glam gold ice skates? Proceed to the next level.

Esteem Needs: Recognition, Attention, Social Status, Accomplishment, Self-respect………..When skating (okay, let’s be honest here, when falling a lot, A LOT, while attempting to skate) in my glam gold high heel ice skates I will receive recognition, command attention, up my social status, accomplish my goal to fall less than 17 times and have self-respect out the wazoo. Next level please.

Self-Actualization: Truth, Justice, Wisdom, Meaning……….Truth is, I would not be doing Justice to my blog readers if I didn’t use my fashion Wisdom and buy these skates. There would just be no Meaning to this style post, right?

So there! Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs perfectly demonstrates my quality reasoning for the purchase of glam gold high heel ice skates. Now where did I put my check book and car keys?

Aww, what a glorious, wonderful, warm weekend it twas. The sunny state of California lived up to its name and I say, Hooray! I even overheard someone say that they were headed to the beach…..ugh, still a bit too cold for a dip in the Pacific Ocean but wonderful weather for a walk in the beautiful, yet bare, vineyards.

Stylist Tip :: Red and green are opposites on the color wheel and go well together. Try this off red and green combo for less of a Christmas feel.
